Mr. Arthur E. Yocum, age 82 of Painesville, passed away April 19, 2013 at Heather Hill in Chardon. He was born February 14, 1931 in Pennsylvania and had been a Painesville resident for 58 years. He resided in Lewistown, PA before moving to Painesville.
Mr. Yocum was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 2595 in Painesville. He was also active with the Harvey High School Athletic Booster Club and Harvey Band Boosters where he served as President from 1974 to 1975. He was also a member of Moose Lodge #490 in Painesville where he was a member of the Legion serving as President and held every office within the Lodge. He was very proud of earning the Moose Pilgrim Degree, the highest achievement within the Moose Lodge.
Mr. Yocum served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Lubrizol in Painesville after 33 years in 1993.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandra (Rhine) Yocum, his children Cindy (Tim) Pohto, Douglas Yocum and Mark (Heidi) Yocum. He also is survived by his grandchildren Nicole (Chris) Schuster, Gabby and Rylee Yocum and great grandchildren Cori, Alyssa and Timmy Schuster as well as 3 sisters, 2 brothers and one half sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rudy and Aretta (Ritter) Yocum and one brother.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue (opposite Lake Erie College), Painesville. A Moose Pilgrim service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
A private graveside service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Painesville.
