Mark M. Erkkila, 52, of Perry passed away March 2, 2014 at his home in Perry, Ohio. He was born on February 27, 1962 in Bedford to Herbert and Patricia (Rigby) Erkkila.
Mark graduated from Perry High School in 1980 and resided in Perry to raise his three boys. He worked 33 years for First Energy and enjoyed spending time on and off the job with his fellow linemen. Mark will be remembered as a dedicated and hardworking man who always extended his hand to help others. He loved spending time with his family and taking trips to Las Vegas and Key West with his wife, Mary. In more recent years, Mark adored being a "Paapa" and being surrounded by his grandchildren.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Mary Patriarca; father, Herbert Erkkila; mother-in-law, Georgia Patriarca; brother, Thomas (Lydia) Erkkila; sister-in-law, Betty Jo Erkkila; children, Matthew (Monica) Erkkila, Michael Erkkila, and Mark Erkkila, sons of Susan (Melia) Erkkila; step-children, Ryan (Christy) Patriarca and Heather Patriarca; grandchildren, Eden, Eli, Eve, Joseph and Mya; nieces and nephews, Isaac Erkkila, Nicole Erkkila, and Erica Erkkila.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Erkkila; and brother David Erkkila.
A prayer service will be offered at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue (opposite Lake Erie College), Painesville with Rev. Peter Mihalic of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 6:00 p.m.
Following the visitation everyone is invited to the Hungarian Culture Club for a time of continued fellowship.
Burial will take place 10:00 a.m. Friday at Perry Cemetery.
