Charles H. Ostrander, age 95, passed away February 25, 2015 at his home in Painesville Twp. He was born January 27, 1920 in Painesville and had grown up in Leroy.
Mr. Ostrander was owner of Ostrander Construction. He was a mason contractor, general contractor and at one time a licensed embalmer. He did commercial work for Standard Oil as well. He was a graduate of Harvey High School and was a member of East Shore Unitarian Church of Kirtland. He was also a Judge with American Quarter Horse Association and was one of the first in this area to have quarter horses.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II with the 548th Bomb Squadron Heavy.
Survivors are his son, Dennis (Cathy) Ostrander; daughters, Elizabeth (Al) Bucci and Jocelyn Ozbeytemur; grandchildren Tracy (Shane) Hajjar, Casey Hill, Andrew Hill, Dana (Chip) Owens, Nicole Hakli, Richard Hakli, Chelsea Allen, Celeste Allen, and Robyn (Brian) Spataro; 5 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law Kathleen Hill and Leigh Hill.
He was preceded in death by his wife Diane Helene Ostrander and sons Robin and Mitchell. He was the youngest of 10 deceased siblings.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue (opposite Lake Erie College), Painesville.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Denis Paul of East Shore Unitarian Church of Kirtland officiating.
Burial will take place in Northeast Rome Cemetery, Rome, Ohio.
