Pauline Vaccariello, age 77 died May 31, 2015 after a short illness. She was surrounded by her loving family over the last few difficult days.
Pauline was a loved and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She helped make sure elections ran smoothly in her Painesville Township precinct and the Riverside High School Marching Band uniforms were buttoned properly.
She was a soccer mom before the term became vogue. Pauline was a taxi service, coach, uniform mender, costume creator and cooker for the masses. She organized Christmas parties for the children of Elks Club members and Boy Scout floats for parades. She chaperoned school trips and made sure the concession stand was stocked with pizza. She was involved with football, ballet, scouts, music lessons, basketball, baseball and any number of activities four kids, seven grandkids and a great grandkid can get into.
Her favorite activities included spending time with family, gardening, listening to the OSU and Riverside Marching Bands play "Hang on Sloopy", teaching her grandchildren how to bake, playing cards and board games, betting on NASCAR races with her grandsons and taking her granddaughters to tea parties.
Pauline spent five years as an Executive Secretary for Diamond Alkali and 35 years as her husband's secretary for the small public accounting firm he owned. She attended St. Mary's School in Painesville, Villa Maria High School in Pennsylvania and Dyke & Spencerian College in Cleveland.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Frank; sons Frank, Tony (Trudy) both of Geneva, Mike (Sheilah) of Painesville; daughter Michelle (Aaron) Lindrose of Painesville; grandchildren William, James, Vincent and Sofia Vaccariello, Molly and Pavel Lindrose, Sarah Bittner; great grandson Dillen Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix "Ike" and Livia (Sferra) Cardina.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue (opposite Lake Erie College), Painesville.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Church, 242 N. State Street, Painesville with Fr. Tom Winkle officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Painesville.
