Obituary for Mary Alice York (Murray)
Mary Alice York, age 78 of Concord Twp., died August 3, 2015 at her home. She was born on March 7, 1937 in Cleveland.
Mary Alice was an avid shopper. She enjoyed reading and had belonged to the Fairport Book Club. She was a longtime member of the Painesville YMCA where she swam and in her late 60's she was able to swim out to the breakwall and back. She also enjoyed traveling and gave of her time and donated to animal shelters.
Mary Alice retired in 1999 from MC Mobilities and had previously worked at the News Herald Newspaper, and Metal Seal.
Survivors include her husband, John whom she married on April 8, 1967; Children, Geoffrey (Desiree) Stalker, Greg (Lisa) Stalker, Cynthia (Mark) Mullowney, and Mary Margaret (Robert) Wheeler; grandchildren, Allen Stalker, Robert Fishleigh, Brian, Sean, Mark, and Adam Mullowney, Melissa and Kathryn Stalker, Emily Wheeler, Nicole Petric, and Jessica and Rebecca Wheeler; and 11 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Emily Murray; and brother, Larry Murray.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 5-7PM at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., (opposite Lake Erie College) Painesville, Ohio. A memorial service will follow at 7:00PM.
