Obituary for James Mitchell Harris

James Mitchell  Harris
James M. Harris, 85 of Painesville passed away December 19 at Hillcrest Hospital. He was born January 1, 1931 in Monroe, LA to the late George and Ruthie (Jones) Harris.

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Painesville where he served as a Trustee. Mr. Harris was employed at Quail Hollow Country Club and Stevedore in Cleveland prior. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife Maggie C. (Elder) Harris; children Carrie Jean Ballard, Matile Harris, stepdaughters Edith Haynes and Elizabeth Howard; grandchildren Elita Haynes; brothers, Alvin Cardell Whitfield and Billy Jo Cardell; sisters Bennie R. Cockrell and Irma J. Whitfield.

Mr. Harris was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at New Hope Baptist Church, 428 W. Jackson Street, Painesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Alisa Miller officiating.
