Obituary for Burnadette Ann Sweeney (Rini)

Burnadette Ann Sweeney (Rini)
Burnadette Sweeney passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 at the age of 90. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on December 13, 1926 to Dr. Jerome N. Rini and Helen Morris Rini, the middle child and only daughter, wedged between Dr. Jerome M. Rini and William Rini. She grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio and attended Shaker Schools. She graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in Art and Interior Design and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. In 1950 she married John Michael Sweeney, also of Shaker Heights, and they moved to Pepper Pike and raised two daughters, Gael and Maureen. From the mid-1970's, she lived in Concord Township in Lake County. After her divorce, she worked at Petersen, Ibold & Wantz Law Firm in Chardon until her retirement.

Burns had style and a flair for fashion. She loved her many animals (Cats, dogs, birds, you name it), parties, clothes, shopping, sewing, ice skating, and dancing. She was a dancer from the age of 3, taking ballet, tap, and acrobatics throughout her college years. She loved to show off at parties by standing on her head and doing full cartwheels well into her 70's. She traveled throughout Europe, spent many hours on her boat at Mentor Lagoons, and was no stranger to the back of a Harley-Davidson, wearing her Captain America helmet (with sparkles). Her dinner parties were infamous, with plenty of shish kabob and martinis. She was a kind and generous soul who loved ice cream, pasta primavera, apple martinis, "The Golden Girls", and spoiling her only granddaughter. She was a true Renaissance Woman. There won't be many more like her.

Burnadette is survived by her daughters, Gael Sweeney and Maureen Sweeney, her granddaughter, Alyssa Savoca, son-in-law David Soule, and former son-in-law Tim Savoca, as well as nieces Mary-Jo Rini Bross, Jackie Tilley, and Bobbie Giles, and nephew Jim Rini. There will be a celebration of her life (in other words, a big party with lots of food and music) at a later date.
