Obituary for Robert Burton Thompson

Robert Burton  Thompson
Robert Burton Thompson, age 84 of Painesville Twp., died on September 27, 2016 at Chardon Healthcare. He was born on June 2, 1932 in Leroy to the late Charlie B. and Gertrude (Allen) Thompson.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Painesville United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of The Barbershop Harmony Society for 48 years and Director of the Northcoast Chapter over 30 years. He was a 1951 graduate of Harvey High School where he was class president and enjoyed organizing the class reunions.

Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Mary Jane (Amiott); children, Robert (Laurie) of Chardon, Mark (Debbie) of Painesville Twp., Linda (Bill) Lambert of Concord Twp, David of Leroy, Bill (Danielle) of Painesville Twp., Scott (Kathleen) of Concord Twp.; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Betty (Phil) Caranci and Ray Lauver.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings; Charles "Al" Thompson, Shirley Brosch, Hazel Gridley, and Doris Neroda.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at 2:00PM at Painesville United Methodist Church, 71 N. Park Pl., Painesville Ohio. A private burial will be held in Williams Cemetery with military honors.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Crossroads Hospice or Painesville United Methodist Church Music Ministry.

Bob will always be remembered for his love of family, life, quick wit, and love of music.
